Apprenticeships Available – 1st September 2022

Tong continues to adapt and grow today, and now manufactures industry leading handling solutions that are in operation across the globe. As the company pursues its ongoing expansion plans, Tong is pleased to have completed works on a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in its hometown of Spilsby. The new facility boasts advanced manufacturing systems and increased production capacity, ensuring Tong is well placed to produce the highest quality handling equipment and meet worldwide industry demands as they continue to progress.

Due to our expansion, Tong are now seeking to train a number of apprentices. Giving the opportunity to work alongside professionals in our new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Providing the opportunity of career growth, with the availability of a permanent job position.

Apprenticeship availablities;
  • Apprentice Service Engineer

    Working in conjunction with Lincoln College on a day release basis.  You will be enrolled on a three-year Level 3 Maintenance and operations Engineering apprenticeship, in the Maintenance stream, covering a broad range of subjects including mechanical and hydraulic assembly, testing and fault finding techniques.  Click here to find out more about this apprenticeship.
  • Apprentice Machinist – Manufacturing Engineering – 1 vacancy

    We are seeking to train an Apprentice Machinist, working in conjunction with Lincoln College on a day release basis. You will be enrolled on a two-year Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship, in the Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering stream, covering setup of various types of CNC milling
  • Apprentice Fabricator – Manufacturing Engineering – 2 vacancies

    We are seeking to train two Apprentice Fabricators, working in conjunction with Lincoln College on a day release basis. You will be enrolled on a three-year Level 3 Metal Fabricator apprenticeship, which covers a variety of subjects including theory of materials, interpreting technical drawings, marking out and preparation techniques, welding using various tools, techniques and materials, and quality checks during and after the fabrication activities have taken place.

  • Apprentice Electrician – Manufacturing Engineering – 1 vacancy

    We are seeking to train a Manufacturing Electrician, working in conjunction with Boston College on a day release basis. You will be enrolled on a three-year Level 3 Electrical Installation Technician/Maintenance Technician apprenticeship programme covering a wide variety of installation and maintenance tasks including: installing wiring systems; electrical principles in maintenance of electrical equipment; and legislation around testing and commissioning equipment.

  • Trainee Paint & Powdercoat Technician – Manufacturing Engineering – 1 vacancy

    We are seeking to train a Paint and Powder Coating Technician to work in our Paint Department. You will begin by learning how to prepare components for wet painting and powder coating using manual and shot blasting techniques. Training will then be provided on the application of wet paint using spray equipment, and the application of powder coat.
