The Tong Engineering Sample Washer is a purpose-built machine designed to provide efficient, gentle, and thorough washing of small root crop samples, developed with precision and durability in mind. Whether you’re preparing crop samples for testing, grading, or visual inspection, the Sample Washer delivers consistent and high-quality results.
Engineered with the same high standards as Tong’s full-scale handling equipment, this unit is ideal for accurate sample cleaning. The Tong Sample Washer is available in two sizes. The Standard model features a 750mm-long by 500mm-diameter drum, capable of processing up to 0.75 tons per hour and the XL model includes a larger 1200mm-long by 600mm-diameter drum, increasing capacity to 1.5 tons per hour.
Thorough crop cleaning
At the heart of the washer is a revolving drum that gently agitates and augers the crop through a water-filled lower tank, loosening soil and debris for a consistent clean. For heavy-duty cleaning or stubborn soil types, optional pintle strips can be fitted inside the drum. These consist of durable rubber pads backed by a stainless steel perforated sheet with small flexible fingers that reach into natural depressions on the crop surface for a deeper clean.
Washed crop exits via a self-draining elevator, with two flexible discharge options. Crop can be directly discharged into a customer supplied basket, with excess water draining back into the tank, or onto an outfeed chute where crop can be transferred for the next stage of processing
