New Crop Drying machine

To provide packhouses with a reliable and effective vegetable drying solution, Tong has announced new and improved design features of its crop drying system.

Designed with the customer in mind, Tong’s sponge drier offers the ideal solution for drying crop after washing and polishing, which is not only gentle, economic and efficient but also ensures minimal maintenance requirements.

Featuring Tong’s Blue Inverter Technology with an inverter direct drive motor on every shaft for optimum energy efficiency, the new dryer eliminates the need for conventional sprocket and chain drive, resulting in a much lower maintenance machine. A key design feature lies in the motors being fixed to each shaft using a coupling, which allows motors and rollers to be quickly and easily removed, making maintenance much easier than ever before.

These features combine ensure minimal downtime and provide exceptional drying results – perfect for busy packhouses.

“Our newly designed driers are the latest addition to our 2013 range of packhouse equipment, which focuses on minimising the effects of the arduous and potentially corrosive environments that equipment associated with vegetable washing is generally subjected too, commented Simon Lee, Sales Manager at Tong Engineering.

“With this in mind, the driers have been designed with quality build, longevity, efficiency and ease of maintenance in mind, and although a simple machine, sponge and felt driers play a very important role within many packhouse washing processes .

“Manufactured using hard-wearing sponge discs or heavy-duty felt rollers, depending on customer preference, the systems can process a high throughput of crop whilst offering maximum effect.”

Manufactured in 7,10 or 15 roller models, with standard widths from 600mm to 1.5m, the sponge driers can be specified as either independent units, or customised and integrated into complete packhouse lines.
