Tong Engineering will be promoting the latest advancements in carrot optical sorting as well as next generation carrot cleaning, washing, polishing and handling at this year’s British Carrot Growers Association (BCGA) Demonstration Day this week.
Exhibiting at the BCGA Demo Day on Thursday 7th October 2021, when the event returns to Yorkshire at Hobson Farming in West Knapton, Tong is welcoming visitors to the company’s stand within the main marquee to find out more about new product developments in carrot handling including the new model of the Visar optical carrot sorter.
“As UK distributor of the Swiss-manufactured Visar optical sorter, we are able to bring unrivalled advancements in camera technology and automation to the carrot industry,” says Edward. “Visar’s optical carrot sorter is exceptionally accurate and consistent, it allows carrot growers to quality sort, grade and weigh crop without the need for manual sorting; cutting labour costs whilst increasing grading accuracy and consistency. The new model features an advanced infeed and outfeed system, increasing the number of outlets from six to sixteen and increasing sorting capacity by over 50%.»
“As well as advancements in carrot optical sorting, the capabilities of carrot washing and processing equipment is advancing all the time,” says Edward Tong, Managing Director at Tong Engineering. “We’ve seen record demand for our next generation barrel washer and new TPS-Pro polisher worldwide. It’s been an unprecedented 18 months, but equipment advances that minimise labour requirements whilst increasing crop yield have remained at the forefront of product developments throughout this time. We are very much looking forward to having the opportunity to see carrot growers face-to-face at the BCGA event this week and discuss all the latest developments.”
