Built upon generations
Established in 1986 by founder Terry Johnson, Terry Johnson Ltd initially set up business selling the Todd sugar beet cleaner loader and the Bettison range of wheel equipment. By 1987 the business employed the complete Johnson family including Terry’s wife Betty, daughter Mandy and son Paul.
In 1994 the company purchased both the factory and product range of the well-known SwiftLift range of elevators and conveyors. With a loyal workforce and family values at its core, the company behind SwiftLift handling equipment built a reputation as a high quality mobile conveyor and elevator company backed by excellent customer service.

Fast forward to 2023 and with a steadfast dedication to growth, Tong Engineering acquired Terry Johnson Ltd in November 2023, bringing an influx of opportunities to expand and enhance the market presence of the SwiftLift range.
Tong Engineering Ltd Group was born to accommodate the acquisition, incorporating Tong Engineering Ltd alongside Terry Johnson Ltd, which now trades as Tong SwiftLift. The acquisition not only broadens Tong Engineering’s portfolio, but also reinforces the company’s position as a leader in the industry. Tong SwiftLift equipment continues to be manufactured in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, where the Terry Johnson Ltd business was established in 1986.
