Yard Operative

As Tong continues to expand, and arising from a promotion, a vacancy has become available for a Yard Operative, who will play a key role in the smooth and efficient running of the yard.

Duties include;

  • Maintaining an organized, tidy, and clean yard.
  • Unloading and taking receipt of goods, and loading machinery and equipment for delivery.
  • Transporting and moving machinery and equipment into and out of the factory.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading machinery and equipment in the Paint Shop.
  • Maintaining machinery and equipment, and carrying out small repairs where necessary.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Assisting in other departments when required.

Skills & attributes required for this role:

Licences/Certification :

  • Valid UK Driving Licence (required)
  • Forklift Licence (Preferable, but full training will be provided to the successful candidate)

The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys working in a busy environment with varied responsibilities; does not mind working outdoors in all conditions; is a team player; and a self-starter who can prioritise, plan, and manage their workload with minimal supervision.

Due to fluctuating operational demands, it will be necessary to work overtime and/or weekends when required. Where normal working hours are exceeded, the applicable overtime for Monday to Saturday is 1.45x basic hourly rate, and 1.9x basic hourly rate on a Sunday.

Experience in a similar role would be preferable.

Rate of Pay : £12.15 per hour
