Tong Engineering is inviting growers and processors to experience first-hand the power of integrated optical sorting, as it brings back its Optical Sorting LIVE demonstration days, next week, commencing Monday 12th May 2025.
Focused on showcasing the efficiency and automation benefits of the latest sorting technology, which is now an increasingly popular option within Tong handling systems, the event highlights how the TOMRA 3A optical sorter can transform crop handling operations. Designed specifically for unwashed root crops including potatoes and onions, the TOMRA 3A uses advanced, high-speed cameras and customisable software to deliver precise removal of soil, clods, stones, and other debris, with minimal manual intervention.
By significantly reducing labour requirements and maximising throughput, the system allows producers to streamline operations while improving product quality and consistency. The demonstrations provide growers with a practical look at how optical sorting can reduce bottlenecks, cut labour costs, and support higher-value output with less reliance on manual grading.
“This event is all about giving growers the chance to see, in action, how integrated optical sorting can make a real impact on efficiency and profitability,” says David Wilson, Sales Manager at Tong Engineering. “It’s a great opportunity to explore the technology and understand the benefits it can bring to vegetable handling businesses.”
Demonstrations will commence from Monday 12th May at Tong’s industry-leading manufacturing facility in Spilsby, Lincolnshire. To book your personal demonstration and see how Tong and TOMRA’s automated solutions can optimise your post-harvest process, contact the Tong team here.
