Tong’s market leading grading EasyGrade screen grader equipment can be built with a choice of steel or rubber grading screens. Not only that, Tong also offers the choice of square or hexagonal steel grading screens to suit the crop you are handling. Hexagonal screens are designed to offer better accuracy when grading onions, due to their shape.

ROBUST Grader Equipment

With grading capabilities ranging from 10 to 100 tonnes per hour, Tong’s EasyGrade screen modules are built with robust construction, high performance and minimal maintenance in mind. Available in single, twin or triple configurations as stand-alone screen grading modules, or alternatively designed as a complete grader lines.

EasyGrade screen grading modules are manufactured in widths of 0.6m, 0.9m, 1.2m, 1.5m, 1.8m, 2m and 2.4m wide as standard. They are also available in extended or super-extended models, offering a longer grading band. This makes the screen grader more suitable for handling high volumes of crop.

Features

Single EasyGrade Module

Tong’s single EasyGrade screen module is available in standard widths of 0.6m, 0.9m, 1.2m, 1.5m, 1.8m, 2m and 2.4m. The standard length of the single EasyGrade module is 1.5m long with one row of agitators and a 900mm wide side delivery endless self-tracking conveyor. This is slideable and reversible, so that graded crop can be delivered to either side of the screen module.

Twin EasyGrade Module

Tong’s twin EasyGrade screen module is available in standard widths of 0.6m, 0.9m, 1.2m, 1.5m, 1.8m, 2m and 2.4m. The twin module comprises of two off 1.5m long screen modules, with one row of agitators in each. Each screen also has its own 900mm wide side delivery endless self-tracking conveyor which is slideable and reversible. Allowing graded crop to be delivered to either side of the screen module. The option of a transfer roller between screen sections and extended screen options are available on twin models.

Triple EasyGrade Module

Tong’s triple EasyGrade screen module is available in standard widths of 0.6m, 0.9m, 1.2m, 1.5m, 1.8m, 2m and 2.4m. The triple module comprises of three off 1.5m long screen modules with one row of agitators in each. Each screen also has its own 900mm wide side delivery endless self-tracking conveyor which is slideable and reversible, so that graded crop can be delivered to either side of the screen module. The option of a transfer roller between screen sections and extended screen options are available on the triple models.

Extended EasyGrade Module

Extended EasyGrade screen modules have a 300mm longer grading length giving a total screen length of 1.8m, with two rows of agitators. Tong’s extended grading screens offer a longer grading band suitable for higher volumes as well as better separation of tubers in extreme conditions. Particularly when grading longer tuber varieties, the extra length of the screen and additional agitation helps to improve separation. They also allow for easy spreading of the crop, for more accurate grading.

Stone & Clod EasyGrade

Tong’s EasyGrade screen module with integral stone and clod remover has been specifically designed to bring together grading and separating in one process.

Tong’s Stone & Clod EasyGrade innovatively combines agitated screen grading with a steel bounce roller mounted inside. Effectively grading crop and subsequently separating stone and clod from the undersized crop. This reduces unnecessary wastage of smaller crop in one simple process. By combining the grading and separating processes, the Stone & Clod EasyGrade offers significant space savings in comparison with using separate grading and separating equipment. Offering a compact and efficient solution which allows smaller crop to be easily resold or replanted.

Variable speed motors are also a feature of this grading machine, allowing speed to be controlled according to required throughput and weather conditions. As standard, the machine is fully mobile and can be easily integrated into a new or existing grading line. The new Stone & Clod EasyGrade can also be manufactured as part of Tong Peal’s market leading grading machine – The Caretaker. Available in sizes ranging from 1.2m to 2.4m in width the unit can handle all crop sizes and is capable of throughputs up to 50 tonnes per hour.

Grading Sampling System

The EasyGrade sampling system offers effective grading of vegetable samples, with the standard design featuring four Easy Grade Screen modules configured in a row, each 450mm wide. Tong’s grading sampling system is driven by two variable speed motors. One to control the grading screen speed, and the other to control the level of agitation on the screens. With standard EasyGrade screens, graded crop falls through the screens. But instead of being discharged onto a conveyor, crop falls onto a chute that effectively delivers graded crop to crates, trays or boxes.

Long Tuber Handling

Each EasyGrade screen module is manufactured with a long tuber handling device to ensure the gentlest handling of crop. This roller, or rubber star wheel, is fitted immediately prior to the drive roller and rotates faster than it. Ensuring any longer crop varieties are gently dislodged from the screen before they pass over the end.

Rubber Screen Option

Steel grading screens remain Tong’s most popular due to their gentle handling, robust and reliable design and the grading accuracy they offer. However, rubber screens made of out punched rubber belting are also a popular choice. Quieter in operation, the rubber screens are also fitted with a common joining system like the steel screens, allowing one screen to be attached to the other for easy changing.

EasyChange Function

Tong has taken screen changing to the next level with the launch of a new option on all EasyGrade screen grading modules. Designed to increase efficiency and minimise downtime for operators. The new and unique EasyChange function can cut switchover times when changing screens by two thirds, resulting in significantly less downtime for screen changes. This allows users to achieve higher throughputs and meet customer demands.
With the EasyChange function, any grading screen changes can be carried out with a new level of speed and safety. Unlike standard screen grading modules, which require screens to be manually changed, the EasyChange function allows screen changing to be carried out mechanically, at the touch of a button. Thanks to a new electrical winding mechanism and a joining bar.

The whole process can be carried out in just five minutes, saving users time. Whilst significantly reducing manual requirements in the process as well as improving health and safety.
